We're going to learn to use this simple, but powerful tool today. Here is the file you will use to practice:

Take the period to create some original DOODLE ART. Use the PENCIL TOOL and a variety of BRUSHES to create something cool. You may use the DRAWING 2 image (from the previous assignment), you may use a different image, or you may use a blank artboard ™For full credit, use the following:
Let's see where we are by TOMORROW. We're going to play some more with the PENCIL TOOL, but we're going to jazz it up a bit by using some brushes with it. We're going to play with the same image we used last time. If you still have that one, open it up. If you don't have it, download it and place it onto a 11"W x 8"T artboard. Here's the file: Drawing 1
For the remainder of the period, place the following image onto an 11"W x 8"T artboard and add at least five different doodles using PENCIL & BRUSHES. You can do something similar to the practice image, or you can come up with something unique. Have fun with it, but of course, keep it school-appropriate. The file is below: Drawing 2 Hey Y'all~
Let's open up a blank, 11" wide x 8" tall canvas. Then let's File > Place this file: Drawing 1 We're going to follow along with a video to learn some simple, but important skills using the PENCIL TOOL. Hey Y'all~
So here's a little something that's kind of cool. It's an awesome looking scene that you can create completely in Illustrator. The creator moves pretty quickly, but most of the skills you have already. It's a lot of work, so take it a little bit at a time, and have fun with it. Anything you do on it is extra credit, but it should not take the place of your regular work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5oW1tmm3Dw Hey Team~
We're going to use the PEN TOOL, the SHAPEBUILDER TOOL, POLYGONS, STROKE and FILL, to make a copy of an image of your choosing. It can be a cartoon, an anime, or even an image of a real someone or something. Experiment with colors and stroke size. Try to create something really cool that you can show off. We'll play with this for a few days. Let's shoot for Wednesday on this. Morning!
On newer versions of Illustrator, there is a tool called the CURVATURE TOOL. Unfortunately, we don't have the newer version, so we're going to recreate the cartoon drawings in the following file using the PEN TOOL. Here's what you do.
Hey Y'all~
So, we're getting pretty proficient with the polygon tools. We're going play around with another tool today, the SHAPEBUILDER tool. You may have noticed thus far that your Illustrator work is saved with an .ai extension. This mean that they are Illustrator working files. These types of files usually cannot be used practically - on the Web and such. If we want to use them elsewhere, we need to change into a different format. Typically, we save them as .jpg or .gif files. So today, let's do that.
Hey Y'all~ We're going to go back to Illustrator to refresh some memories and to introduce it to the newer folks. For some reason, Illustrator teachers like to work with animals when introducing Illustrator. I'll do the same. Here is the file we're going to work with: Sleeping Fox Here's what you do:
When finished with your sleeping fox (please don't just copy/paste the final one and claim it's your own...), you will find a drawing or an image of another animal, and you will use the polygon tool, the pen tool, and stroke and fill to recreate the image in Illustrator. For your own animal image, do these things: A. Find the image you want to recreate and save it into your Illustrator folder B. Create a new artboard - size doesn't really matter, but if you want to keep it at 800pt x 600pt w that's okay C. File > Place the image onto the new canvas - make sure that you check the TEMPLATE box before you place D. Use polygon tool (triangles, rectangles, circles), pen tool, stroke & fill to create your animal E. Make sure you have a GROUND, SKY, CLOUDS or STARS, and some sort of PLANTS (trees, bushes, etc.) F. Do not trace the whole image. This is an artistic, polygonal interpretation of your animal. It doesn't have to be, nor should it be realistic looking. Everything will be due on Wednesday! |
